Turn Off the Radio and Start Singing
Sometimes it can seem like the world is such a negative place. If you look at the various media, it seems like everyone is bashing someone. Whether it’s TV or radio or magazines or the internet, most everyone who is talking is putting someone or something down. Politicians and pundits aren’t talking about positive things. Instead they are putting down what their opponents are saying or doing. TV shows get good ratings when they make fun of people or elements of society. Articles get read when they disclose the horrible truth about something. The most popular radio shows are those that slam things. The most clicked-on blogs are those that lash out against something. What is it about our society that this is reflecting? How does all this negativity excite us? Why do we subscribe to it? What emotions are being assuaged?
Is it a ‘majority rules’ kind of thing? Is that how most of society is but not us? Are you a part of the world who doesn’t care for that? Negativity sells, but do you buy it?
Occasionally the media is taken by an emotional positive story and that fleetingly becomes the story of the day and it seems like humanity bonds for ever so brief a moment. It seems like there really is some positive in the world and we feel good. But before we know it we’re right back into the pervasive negativity. Looking at all the information we are bombarded with by various media, how much is negative? Take a day to notice this. Notice the emotional reactions that both you feel and that you feel coming from mass consciousness. Switch from your noggin to your solar plexus and feel the information instead of thinking about it. How does it make you feel overall? How many news stories bring you joy? How many make you feel good all over?
Judging by the media, the world is a rotten place. It’s hard to feel good about it. Why would we be fed so many stories that make us feel bad? Is that what we are attracting? Is that what we are reflecting? If everyone was full of joy would those horrible rotten feel-bad stories get our attention? Would they sell?
Is it the media’s fault? Is it our fault? Or is blame not the important thing? Instead of blaming, which is itself negative, what can we do to change things? Is it a matter of focus? Are there really a myriad of positive wonderful things happening that don’t find our focus? Does focusing on the good negate or diminish the bad? Does shifting our focus change things or does it merely change what we see?
What we see and hear and think about and focus on is all a brain thing. In particular, it’s a left-brain thing. It is all information that we take in through our senses and then organize in the left half of our brains and our bodies then react to it all with emotions. Our left brain then further reacts to those emotions and then we get further emotions in response to those further brain responses. It’s an endless cycle that keeps our brains and emotions very busy…..
……so busy that we don’t even notice true feeling.
Can you imagine a wholly different kind of media that does not engage our brains and emotions but rather true, pure feeling? Music and art come close but there is usually still engagement of brain and emotion. We can disengage from brain and emotion with a solitary walk in nature and come close to touching pure feeling. We can meditate and shut out the noise. We can touch pure feeling briefly but it is hard to hold onto. Our brains and emotions don’t like being abandoned like that and they inevitably pull us back.
Our brains and emotions like being plugged into the planetary media, which is like the buzz of mass consciousness. True feeling, however, is the medium of the universe. Feeling is the universal language of our Source. Feeling is the consciousness flowing through us that we ignore because we’re tuned into the buzz. We’re afraid to switch channels because we’ve been tuned to the mass consciousness buzz for so long that we feel alone and cut off without it. Yet all of our sadness and struggle and depression results from our being cut off from the channel of feeling that comes from our Source and feeds us and gives us life. We are torn between channels, caught between our Source and our situation.
Perhaps the best thing we can do is turn off the radio and start singing. That connects us with our Source as it pulls in that creative Source feeling energy and it connects us with our situation in a different way as it bathes our situation in that creative Source feeling energy. We are torn between outward media, not realizing that we are the medium through which we divinely create our reality.
